Every Monday morning, I send out a newsletter to my friends and family. It's a nice way for me to keep in touch with everyone and collect all of my favorite photos and stories from my adventures and explorations in Austin, TX.
Please enjoy the archived newsletters below and feel free to subscribe for future updates.
Why did I move to austin?
Have you ever visited a city and just felt like you belonged there? The "shop local" culture, the booming food and coffee industry, the live music every night of the week, the bats... it's a big city in a small town, a blue dot in a red state, and I am delighted to be here.
In Orange County, I was at a standstill. I had recently left a difficult graphic design job. Because I was unemployed, I had to move back home with my parents. I had enough freelance work to keep me busy, but I just wasn't happy with where I was at.
It felt like something needed to change.
One of my high school friends who lives in Austin told me she could arrange a place for me to stay if I wanted to try it out for a bit.
I responded with, "Sure, why not?"
So I drove out a few weeks later with a car packed with only my necessary belongings and an attitude of absolutely nothing left to lose.
