So I'm a fan of dressing cutely and saving money.
Not that I'm much of a fashionista... at all, really. But I know what I like, what's comfortable and what looks good on me.
Lately, I've been working on the whole "hey, let's not spend a lot of money" thing, vaguely prepping for the future when I'm living on my own. It's a challenging lifestyle to be thrifty when Forever 21, Nordstrom's and Francesca's Collections are so close by...
Goodwill, however, is closer. And it's an incredible organization. I've donated dozens of bags of clothing and accessories over the years. For an entire family that has performed, participated and worked in community theatre, Goodwill is the motherlode for affordable costume pieces.
All that to say, I'm pretty familiar with the place.
Mossimo® Women's Floral Denim Shorts from Target. More expensive than the top.
I'm a sucker for plaid shirts. My older sister makes fun of me and calls me a hipster, but in some sort of defense, I believe they make for great workshirts. Plus, I look nice in pink. So there.
I'm a cardigan girl usually, but a good day-to-day jacket has been on my wishlist for awhile. Especially now that it's beach bonfire season. I walked in, started shifting some hangers around and there it was. A dark brown corduroy jacket. Fit me perfectly. Coats and such are even cheaper during the summer months.
Grey striped tank top was also a thrift shop find for $3 or less.
Jewelry has always been more... my thing, I guess. I'm always on the hunt for pretty things. The Old Navy clearance rack has some unusual finds for earrings and bracelets. I'd love to buy more handmade items, but they're pricey. And rightfully so.
Finally, a new jacket for fancy evenings or the workplace. This month, I'll be house managing at the college theatre on the weekends (a ticket-taker/usher/box office assistant/etc.) so I thought I deserved a new one.
Places like The Salvation Army, Goodwill, and Iguana Vintage make me super happy. It's always an adventure to just go take a look around. There's some awesome stuff, some crazy stuff and a lot of just... seriously bizarre fashion.
Like with any shopping endeavor, there are days when you walk in and find EXACTLY what you wanted (even before you knew you wanted it) and other times when what you're looking for eludes you.
Happy bargain shopping!
