A Note About Shapes

My most recent graphic design exercise has been to deconstruct some posters I like. Just whittle them down to their most basic shapes.

My mentor lent me a most excellent book on the subject by Molly Bang. The story of Little Red Riding Hood... using only shapes and color.

A whole book focusing on design concepts at their most basic and childlike form. I keep opening this book up and then seeing my favorite posters in a whole new light.

So I reluctantly starting working away at this little exercise.

PanamspaceSpace mountainShapes have relationships. And weight. Stagnant triangles can still move. Giant orbs can threaten. Small, cute little rectangles can feel insecure.

This exercise is a product of my internship with Everwitt Productions, LLC.
